What is Third Party Insurance?
Third party insurance is a mandatory motor insurance policy that covers the insured's liability for death, injury, or property damage caused to a third party by the insured vehicle. Under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, no vehicle can be driven on public roads without at least third party insurance.
The policy covers the insured's legal liability to third parties arising from the use of the vehicle. The insurance company is liable to pay compensation awarded by the MACT to the third party up to the policy limits.
